Overview

The Apollo.io integration gives your agents access to Apollo’s B2B contact and company database. Agents can prospect for new people and companies that match an ideal customer profile, and enrich known contacts with verified work emails and firmographics — ideal for lead generation, list building, and CRM data hygiene. The two tools are designed to chain: prospect to discover matches for free, then enrich only the records worth a credit.

Prerequisites

  • An Apollo.io plan that includes API access (the credit-consuming search and enrichment endpoints require a paid plan)
  • An Apollo.io API key, created from Settings > Integrations > API

Setup Guide

1

Get Your API Key

In Apollo, open Settings > Integrations > API and create an API key. Copy it somewhere safe — you’ll paste it into Aster Agents.
2

Connect Apollo in Aster Agents

Navigate to Control Hub > Integrations, locate the Apollo.io card, click Connect, and paste your API key.
3

Add Tools to Your Agent

Edit your agent and enable Apollo Prospect and Apollo Enrich. Enabling both lets the agent discover matches and then reveal contact data for the best ones.

Available Tools

  • Apollo Prospect — Discover new people or companies matching an ICP using filters (titles, seniority, location, company domain, employee count, revenue, keywords). Returns previews with each person’s id; emails stay locked until you enrich.
  • Apollo Enrich — Enrich known people (by Apollo id, email, LinkedIn URL, or name + company/domain) or companies (by domain) with verified work emails and firmographics.

How Credits Work

Apollo bills export credits per record enriched, not per request. Search is free:
ActionExport credits
Reveal a contact’s work email (enrich)1 per contact
Reveal a personal / secondary emailextra, opt-in
People or company search (prospect)0 — no credits
Paid plans include a monthly export-credit pool:
PlanPrice (annual)Export credits / month
Professional$79 / seat / mo2,000
Organization$119 / seat / mo4,000
So the typical flow is cheap: prospect for free to build a list, then spend ~1 credit per contact to reveal the verified email. Extra credits can be purchased in blocks when a one-time run exceeds the monthly pool.
Apollo delivers phone numbers asynchronously via a webhook, which these synchronous tools can’t receive — so Apollo Enrich returns verified emails and firmographics only, not phone numbers. Use a different source if you need direct dials.
The connected API key is shared by all agents in your organization and draws from your organization’s Apollo export-credit balance. Use agent-level tool permissions to control which agents can spend credits.

Security Considerations

  • Protect your API key — it can spend your Apollo credits and access contact data
  • Rotate API keys periodically from Apollo Settings > Integrations > API
  • Grant the Apollo tools only to agents that need them to control credit usage

Troubleshooting

  • Verify the API key is correct and active in Apollo Settings > Integrations > API
  • Re-paste the key in Control Hub > Integrations
  • The credit-consuming search and enrichment endpoints require an Apollo plan with API access
  • Confirm your plan includes the API and that the key has permission for the endpoint
  • Apollo enforces per-minute, per-hour, and per-day request limits, and a monthly export-credit pool
  • Slow the request rate, or top up export credits if the monthly pool is exhausted
  • Loosen your prospecting filters — overly narrow ICPs can return zero matches
  • For enrichment, provide a stronger identifier: an Apollo id (from prospect) or email matches best, otherwise firstName + lastName + company domain
  • Apollo Prospect — find new contacts/companies matching an ICP
  • Apollo Enrich — reveal verified work emails and firmographics for known records
